King College, a private, comprehensive college founded in the Presbyterian tradition, is inviting applications for an Instructional Technologist, a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Duties include assuming primary responsibility and leadership for the effective use of technology in the teaching and learning process and working closely with faculty and students to provide training, resources, and support in the use of various computer and multimedia equipment to support academic and instructional activities; responsibility for system administration and training of Blackboard. Position requires working in both Kingsport and Bristol locations.
Qualifications: Master's degree in instructional design/technology or equivalent appropriate academic preparation required, plus three to five years relevant experience in an educational or training setting preferred. Demonstrated experience in developing technical training, workshops, seminars, and classes for faculty and advising on the use of technology in the classroom. Comprehensive knowledge of educational/instructional technology, software, and multimedia development on various platforms and its application in teaching. Demonstrated experience with administering, supporting, and training of content delivery systems (ie: Blackboard, Moodle, etc.). Working knowledge of PCs (Windows OS) and Macs (OS 10.x). Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (PC and Mac), Adobe products, and Dreamweaver. Demonstrated competence in multimedia authoring/production tools (e.g., Authorware, Flash); web development, web programming, web communication tools, graphic applications and design; and database design. Solid experience with Internet technologies, TCP/IP tools, FTP, and Telnet. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
